Abstract

Medial open-wedge high tibial osteotomy (MOWHTO) is increasingly recognized as the preferred 
treatment option for active patients with varus malalignment and medial compartment osteoarthritis of 
the knee. This procedure aims to delay the degenerative process while alleviating pain and dysfunction. 
In this technical note, we aim to describe the tips and tricks for performing a safe MOWHTO, drawing 
on recent literature.
