Factors to be Considered When Offering a Surgery %K TKA %K previous UKA %K previous HTO %K risk of revision %R 10.22038/abjs.2020.52131.2575 %X Medial unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA) and valgus high tibial osteotomy (HTO) are reliable treatments for medial unicompartmental knee osteoarthritis, which are often indicated in relatively young and active patients. However, when the aforementioned surgical procedures fail or the osteoarthritis progresses, patients are offered conversion to the total knee arthroplasty (TKA). It has been recently published that a previous UKA more than doubles the risk of revision than a previous HTO.
